STEPS

The STEPS (Support Team Encouraging Perseverance and Strength) program is focused on working with houseless youth ages 16-24 years old.

STEPS partners with two drop-in centers in Rapid City, Wambli Ska and The Circle, to provide outreach and transportation for youth who need help removing barriers housing, education, self-care, and community connections. STEPS also serves youth who are considered houseless (which could mean frequent runaway, couch surfing with friends or family, unaccompanied youth, doubled up, living in hotels or in shelters or literally houseless) to build relationships, make connections and referrals to service providers community-wide, starting with the two drop-in centers and extending to any services and supports vulnerable youth can benefit from.

We envision a community that works together to alleviate the underlying causes of poverty; create sustainable change to the lives of Rapid City youth and young adults; and empower and enrich all to face life’s challenges with confidence, competence and grace.
